Biography:

Laura J Webb, RDH MS CDA FAADH was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, completing her undergraduate work at Foothill College Dental Hygiene Program and San Jose State University-Biological Sciences. She holds a Master of Science degree in Health Service Administration from University of St Francis. Founding Director of the highly successful Dental Hygiene Program at TMCC, Reno NV, she was responsible for all aspects of program and faculty development, clinic construction, management, accreditation, planning and outcomes assessment, policies and procedures, and instruction.  Ms Webb also served as a consultant/site visitor for the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation. While at TMCC, she enjoyed collaborating with members of the Health Sciences Division to promote activities which fostered excellence and interprofessional education.

With over fifty years experience in dental occupations including expanded functions dental assisting; clinical dental hygiene practice in both periodontal and general offices; and allied dental education (DA & DH), she has been licensed to provide local anesthesia and nitrous oxide-oxygen analgesia since 1980, and has presented a variety of topics, including local anesthesia and instrumentation courses for dental hygienists and educators at numerous national and international professional meetings for over 16 years. She also has worked in cooperative environments which have brought a variety of healthcare professionals together to meet common goals.  Some activities include working with: the Nevada State Health Division with various projects and coalitions; Federal programs, such as CSA Head Start;  and the Department of Education—State of Nevada Health Occupations Writing Team, as a Governor Appointee, to develop State Educational Standards for Health Occupations Courses.  Ms Webb has authored, reviewed, and contributed to many textbooks and professional publications.  In 2012, Laura Webb was the recipient of the ADHA Alfred C Fones Award for her dedication and leadership.
